Fire Recovery USA is offering a Fire Prevention Self-Inspection module in our comprehensive funding programs for fire departments and cities nationwide.

An Essentially Hands-Free Source of Funds for Fire Departments

In response to requests from cities and fire departments from throughout the country, Fire Recovery USA has developed its proprietary Fire Inspection Program and is making it available to new and existing clients.  Each year most cities and fire departments are required to perform fire safety inspections for businesses within their jurisdictions and are finding it more and more difficult to perform their inspections on a timely and cost effective basis.  Fire Recovery USA’s program virtually eliminates the administrative burden of these inspections while reducing department field time by as much as 80%.  Significantly, the program provides much needed funding to cities and fire departments.

The Concept:

The Fire Prevention Inspection Program allows a fire department’s “low-risk” businesses (typically 90% of all businesses) to self-inspect their premises using nationally recognized inspection forms.  The fire department is now freed to concentrate their on-site inspections to the “high-risk” and “high-occupancy” locations that deserve closer analysis.  This will eliminate up to 80% of the labor-intensive, on-location inspections, while generating administrative fees for each business inspected.

The Basics:
Fire Recovery USA will mail a package containing a letter from the Fire Chief explaining the program and instructions how to login in to our InspectionHub website and perform a self-inspection.  The letter can state that a certain percentage of all business will receive an un-notified on-site inspection by the fire department in order to increase compliance.  We will evaluate the results without the use of a city or fire department’s staffing or resources.  A service fee is collected from each business with which the bulk is returned to the fire department. Online reports and statistics provide fire departments total access to the results of the inspection program. The fire department will only inspect the businesses that fail self-inspection or request an on-site visit.  High-occupancy buildings and high-risk businesses will still need to be physically inspected, but by utilizing this new solution, more time and resources can be committed to businesses that pose the greatest risks.

The Results:

Fire departments on the program can review and print all results from the Fire Inspection Program on demand, allowing them to know what types of businesses are in their community and what to expect when the unexpected happens.

The Cost:

As with all Fire Recovery’s cost recovery modules, Fire Recovery USA will only retain a small portion of the collected funds to administer the program allowing fire departments to focus their time on high-risk businesses, while still collecting inspection information and funds from other businesses in the community. Our review and maintenance fee is between 20% and 30%.

HOW IT WORKS:  There are two components to the Fire Prevention Inspection Program.

COMPONENT A: Low-Risk Businesses

1. The fire department provides Fire Recovery USA with a database of it’s businesses.

2. Fire Recovery USA mails a package containing; a letter from the Fire Chief explaining the program, instructions how to login in to our InspectionHubsm website and perform a self-inspection.  The letter can state that a certain percentage of all business will receive an un-notified on-site inspection by the fire department in order to increase compliance.

3. The Inspection Form is completed online as well as the payment for their Fire Inspection Compliance Certificate.

4. Fire Recovery USA evaluates the completed Fire Inspection Form and inputs the data into our online tracking system (each business is tracked by “Pass”, “Fail” or ”Request for Inspection”).

5. This information is available to the fire department 24/7 via the Internet and is password protected for security.

6. If a business fails or requests an on-site inspection, the fire department’s personnel will perform the inspection and update the account as a "Pass" or "Fail" in the system.

7. Fire Recovery USA will process the payments, email the original Fire Inspection Form and data to the fire department and/or city so the department can view them over the web site

COMPONENT B:  High-Risk & High-Occupancy Businesses

The High-Risk and High-Occupancy businesses (on average, about 10% of all businesses) will need to be inspected by fire department personnel with no changes to your current system.

BENEFITS TO YOU:

  • The Fire Prevention Inspection Program will cut inspection times and administrative burden by up to 80%.
  • The Fire Prevention Inspection Program will bring a new revenue source to fire departments.
  • Currently, many communities nationwide are successfully using self-inspection programs.
  • The savings in time and resources will allow fire departments to more thoroughly address the high-risk areas in their community.
  • The business owner or landlord takes responsibility for the inspections and verifies this by signing the inspection form.

The Fiscal Benefit:

Here’s an example of the funds that could be available through the program in a small to medium size city:

Number of Example City Businesses: 2,500

“Low-Risk” Self-Inspection businesses: 80% = 2,000
“High-Risk” Inspection businesses: 20% = 500

"Low-Risk" Self-Inspection Program Fee: $50 x 2,000 = $100,000

“High-Risk” Inspection Fee: $100 x 500 = $50,000

Fire Recovery USA review and maintenance fee: (typically 20%-30%)

NET Funds Returned to Fire Department - up to $120,000 annually!
